Activity at the Ada Home
in January 1998

by Magnus Kempe
Editor and Publisher

Here are some January 1998 statistics for the Ada Home Web site (<http://www.adahome.com/>).

In (soon) four years of operation, the continued increase observed in the number of visits and visitors is definitely a sign that interest in Ada is and remains strong. Not really surprising, since this is an excellent language :-)

The January 1998 numbers:
(percentages are used to indicate evolution in one year)

In one month, 9,481 distinct hosts were served (+23%), including firewalls and proxy servers for many large organizations and ISPs. This translates to more than 10,000 Ada Home visitors in January 1998 (+25%).

We recorded 107,892 page requests (+15%, excluding graphics).

More than 14,000 requests were made for the main Ada Home page (+40%).

1.6GB of data was transferred (+42%, including graphics).

Note: due to widespread caching in proxy servers and on local disks, the actual number of times Ada Home pages have been read is higher than can be inferred from our server logs.
