Associations and Groups

ACM SIGAda

ACM SIGAda publishes a bimonthly: Ada Letters, and organizes an annual conference: TRI-Ada. The SIGAda WWW Server provides a lot of online information on SIGAda's mission, working groups, conference, membership information, etc.

The Association for Computing Machinery (ACM)

The ACM itself is also online. The ACM has numerous special interest groups and publications in computer science.

National Ada Associations

There are many National Ada Associations, which organize conferences, meetings, and training seminars, publish newsletters, and often have e-mail lists.

The IEEE Computer Society

IEEE CS is online, with general information about things like a conference calendar, list of volunteers, etc.

They currently have abstracts of IEEE CS sponsored conferences up there. During 1995 the Computer Society Press will be implementing an "experiment" where they put both PostScript and HTML versions of full conference proceedings on-line. This will be done for a limited number of conferences to start, with the number planning on growing over time. With any luck, they'll be in full swing by the beginning of 1996.

The Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, Inc. (IEEE)

The IEEE itself is also online. The IEEE has numerous special interest groups and publications in the electrical, electronic, software and hardware fields.

ISO Working Group 9 (ISO-IEC/JTC1/SC22/WG9)
-- No WWW server

The ISO Working Group 9 (ISO-IEC/JTC1/SC22/WG9) deals with Ada within the International Standardization Organization. WG9 has several rapporteur groups:

• ARG: Ada Rapporteur Group - Evaluation of comments on the Ada standard
• CRG: Character Rapporteur Group - International Character Sets
• IRG: Information Systems Rapporteur Group - Decimal Arithmetic
• NRG: Numerics Rapporteur Group - NUMWG packages
• RRG: Real-Time Rapporteur Group - ExTRA
• SRG: SQL Interfaces Rapporteur Group - SAMeDL
• URG: Uniformity Rapporteur Group - Evaluation of Uniformity Issues (UIs)
• XRG: Ada 9X Rapporteur Group

International Organization for Standardization (ISO)

The ISO has opened "ISO Online". The following features are provided:

• The Catalogue of all ISO International Standards including drafts. A search tool is provided to find information by keywords or by ISO reference number. Information on how to order ISO standards and publications is given.
• Complete lists of ISO members and technical committees.
• General background on ISO, its structure, the scope of responsibility of each technical committee.
• Facts on the ISO 9000 Forum, the information service on ISO 9000, the series of International Standards for quality management.
• And more.
